Join Friends of the Inyo and Our Partner, Conservation Lands Foundation, in Urging Congress to Support Increased Funding for the Bureau of Land Management for the Maintenance and Protection of Public Lands Today and for Future Generations.

Act by July 9!

What's Happening?

With Fiscal Year 2025 Interior Appropriations being discussed on Capitol Hill, we need to continue to press Congress to ensure the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the largest and historically most underfunded manager of public lands in the country, has the staffing and resources necessary to manage the system of National Conservation Lands for their conservation values. National Conservation Lands are BLM-managed public lands that include:

  • National Monuments
  • National Conservation Areas & Similar Designations
  • Wilderness & Wilderness Study Areas
  • Wild & Scenic Rivers
  • National Scenic & Historic Trails

In the coming weeks and months, the Senate and House of Representatives will draft and vote on their respective versions of the FY25 Interior Appropriations Bill. We at Friends of the Inyo, in solidarity with partner Conservation Lands Foundation, the only nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and expanding America’s National Conservation Lands, ask for your support during these next crucial steps in the legislative process to ensure members of Congress know that their constituents want increased funding for the BLM.

As the name of this campaign implies, it's #TimeToCare!

Here are some key dates to keep in mind for the House of Representatives:

  • Thursday, June 27: Bill text released.

  • Friday, June 28: Interior Appropriations Subcommittee markup and vote.

  • Tuesday, July 9: Full Appropriations Committee markup and vote.

  • Week of July 22: House Floor vote

(The Senate process has not yet begun, but will move forward in the coming weeks as well.)

What Can I Do?

It truly is #TimeToCare! Act today and send a letter to your Senators and Representative in Congress urging them to support increased funding for the BLM to manage, protect, and maintain public lands for today and future generations. Your comments will be MOST EFFECTIVE if received by July 9, which is why that date appears in red.
