What's Happening? With Fiscal Year 2025 Interior Appropriations being discussed on Capitol Hill, we need to continue to press Congress to ensure the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the largest and historically most underfunded manager of public lands in the country, has the staffing and resources necessary to manage the system of National Conservation Lands for their conservation values. National Conservation Lands are BLM-managed public lands that include: - National Monuments
- National Conservation Areas & Similar Designations
- Wilderness & Wilderness Study Areas
- Wild & Scenic Rivers
- National Scenic & Historic Trails
In the coming weeks and months, the Senate and House of Representatives will draft and vote on their respective versions of the FY25 Interior Appropriations Bill. We at Friends of the Inyo, in solidarity with partner Conservation Lands Foundation, the only nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and expanding America’s National Conservation Lands, ask for your support during these next crucial steps in the legislative process to ensure members of Congress know that their constituents want increased funding for the BLM. Friday, June 28: Interior Appropriations Subcommittee markup and vote. -
