Supporting Fire Restoration in the Eastern Sierra | |
The Inyo National Forest is busy implementing the new Forest Plan and one of their first steps is an ambitious proposal to approve up to 200,000 acres of the Forest, outside of designated wilderness, for prescribed burning and associated fire restoration. Under the Eastern Sierra Fire Restoration and Maintenance Project the Forest would be approved to implement prescribed fire and fuels treatment projects for a ten year period in Jeffrey pine, mixed conifer, aspen, and some red fir and lodgepole pine stands. Eastern Sierra Sustainable Recreation Partnership Meeting On Thursday, January 16th at Statham Hall in Lone Pine the Eastern Sierra Sustainable Recreation Partnership will be hosting their first Gateway Community Public Workshop. This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in the development of priorities for Southern Inyo communities and the Owen’s Valley at large. There will be future workshops hosted in Bishop, Mammoth, Lee Vining, Bridgeport, and Walker. Friends of the Inyo will be in attendance and we hope you will be too! When: Thursday, January 16th

Is it that time already? Early registration for the 2020 Owens Lake Bird Festival will begin on February 15th. We are currently working out all of the details concerning outing offerings and trip leaders to make this sixth year of the event the best one yet. This year the Owens Lake Bird Festival will be held on April 24th -26th. Space is limited so you will want to register early.
